Protect your mental health

Your mental health is one of your most valuable assets. It can impact on your job success, intimate and family relationships, physical health and appearance. Doing particular things that protect and strengthen your mental health will not only improve your sense of well-being, it will help you in the future to be stronger when challenges and problems arise.

About us

In Balance Asia is a not-for-profit, non-government organization. In Balance Asia aims to raise awareness of mental health issues and provide mental health information to Asian gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and intersex (GLBTI) people.

The website acknowledges the stigma faced by GLBTI people who experience problems with their mental health in Asia. People who experience mental health problems and who don't identify as heterosexual or conform to standard gender identities, may not be considered to be 'normal' and may treated with fear, disgust and judgement by others.

Our mission

Our mission is to provide helpful information and raise awareness about mental health problems affecting Asian gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and intersex (GLBTI) people.

We aim to build understanding of mental health conditions, and in doing so, reduce stigma and improve health outcomes for GLBTI people. The information provided is intended as a basic guide only and is not to be used for diagnostic purposes. Please consult a doctor for professional health advice.

Our values:
- Compassion
- Justice
- Diversity
- Empowerment through knowledge
- Health
- Acceptance
- Mindfulness

We are a new website. We want to hear your stories and experiences of being gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and intersex in asia and if your experiences have impacted on your feelings and your health. We would like to publish your comments, stories, poems or artwork on this website to help others who read them make sense of their own problems.

If you would like to contribute, please
contact us.
